Eagles’ Nest features some of the steepest vineyards in the Cape Winelands ranging from 100m – 400m above sea level. The steep terraces are chizzled out of decomposed granite and clay with a high concentration of table mountain sand stone rock.
The vineyards aspects range from East to West allowing for extended sunlight hours ensuring optimum ripeness. Our location is in close proximity to the cold Atlantic Ocean and the prevailing winds allow for long hang times and a signature of elegance and finesse in the wines. The grape varieties planted on the estate are perfectly matched to the unique characteristics that make up the Eagles’ Nest terroir.
As a boutique wine farm, Eagles’ Nest is planted predominantly to Shiraz, Merlot and Viognier. Eagles’ Nest hosts 12 hectares of vine on a 38.4-hectare property. The boutique size combined with unique terrain allows for the cultivation of hand crafted wines with meticulous attention to detail from vineyard to cellar.
